Sarba Shanti Ayog - History

Our History

Sarba Shanti Ayog was set up as a non-profit in 1978 with a vision to impact the lives of the marginalized and the disadvantaged producer. Sarba Shanti Ayog (SSA) focuses on capacity building, technical assistance and social developmental needs of the producer groups / units, enterprises and Fair Trade organization. The marketing organization, SSA Association for Craft Producers addresses the marketing needs of its producers and manages the expanding supply base of over 70 producer groups engaged in 16 craft lines. It has a significant representation from its producer partners in the Managing Committee.

More than forty years ago, SSA was envisaged as a strong and evolving network built on complementary competencies- of production and producers collectives, marketing access and business development and capacity building; engaged with primarily the artisanal communities, disadvantaged and small producers and women - mainly from West Bengal, Orissa and other states of eastern India.

The network continues to remain vibrant and ever expanding, while serving the artisans and craftsmen within the network with the same vigour.
